Hello Avast developers,
Yesterday at 11PM, I submitted a malware (java-based, extension: .jar) which bypassed Avast and infected my virtual machine
I tweaked avast by changing Behavior shield to "Always ask" or the second option and enabled hardened mode aggressive (which doesn't matter against scripts)
It was a file-less malware
I submitted the sample via avast's website (https://www.avast.com/report-malicious-file.php) and via Virus Chest
Today, at 12PM (>12 hours apart) I tested it again with signatures, avast still didn't detect it
This is the virustotal link: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file-analysis/MjliM2E1YzY4MTJlZjAzNWRmYjIxZmYzMjgxNTc5MjE6MTU2MjMxMTczNw==/detection
My question is how long does it take for Avast to process a submitted malware?
Regards,
Rain

Hello Rain,
it usually doesn't take more than 12 hours.
I think the issue with the file is that it is damaged and can't be run. That's why we don't detect it as malware.
Are you sure your virtual machine got infected by this particular file?

David
