Title: Cleanup No Longer Finding Browser Cache, Cookies, Etc?
Post by: Joseph351 on July 14, 2019, 07:27:22 PM
Hi All,
First post in this forum so be gentle. :)
I have Avast Cleanup Premium running on a Lenovo Yoga 710.  I typically run the Maintenance scan process daily.  A couple weeks ago I noticed that it no longer seemed to be finding any Browser Cache, Tracking Cookies, & Browsing History to remove. The little checkboxes are greyed out.  It still does find Broken Registry Items, Broken Shortcuts, & System Junk to remove every time I run it.  I have both the Edge & Chrome browsers installed but primarily just use Chrome.  I am also in the Windows Insider program and am currently running Win10 Version 1903, OS Build 18362.10000.  I work from home with this laptop so have a fairly consistent usage profile.  I don't know if something has changed possibly with Chrome or Avast Cleanup or whatever...?  Any suggestions?

Hi,

it seems like the Browser Cleaner module has stopped working for some reason so it no longer provides the scan results.

In order to be able to help you I would like to ask you to send the log files so we can investigate where the problem is.
You can simply send them by executing our log collector utility from this path C:\Program Files (x86)\AVAST Software\Avast Cleanup\tulogcollector.exe assuming that you have still Avast Cleanup installed on your computer.
Just please add your email address there so we can join the logs with your report here.
Thank you.

I'm experiencing this problem too. Browser Cache, Tracking and Download History are simply not scanned. Rebooting and restarting the app does not help. I am running Windows 7 with all updates installed.

I will send my log using the instructions below also.

Thanks
Bob

I have Avast Cleanup Premium running on a desktop I now use to work from home. I typically run the Maintenance scan process daily. A couple weeks ago I noticed that it no longer seemed to be finding any Browser Cache, Tracking Cookies, & Browsing History to remove. Also the little check boxes are grayed out.  It still does find Broken Registry Items, Broken Shortcuts, & System Junk to remove. It doesn't matter which browser I use but I favor Firefox. Occasionally it will work right after a boot time scan. I am currently running Win10 Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363.
I try to find answers on the forum before starting another thread but it looks like others have had this same issue in the past.

Most browsers, like Firefox can be configured to clear the browser history/cookies/cache when closed.  Do you happen to have these privacy settings enabled in firefox ?

Sorry I can't be any more help on the Avast Cleanup Premium as I don't have it installed.

Hi David, yes I do have those settings enabled but Avast always found something in one of the browsers, especially Microsoft and now it's just too clean. Every once in a while like after a Boot-time scan Avast Cleanup Premium will fund a several hundred cookies which tells me it missed them on previous scans.

Thanks for the suggestion.

You're welcome, only sorry it couldn't have been more productive.

FYI: Tonight I ran Avast Cleanup Premium and it found 273 tracking cookies and 1.1GB of Browser Cache. Checked for updates and the only thing updated were virus definitions.
I'll see if it works again tomorrow.

Hmmm... just read another post about Office 365 and coincidentally my Office 365 did an update minutes prior to me trying me Avast Cleanup Premium when it did work. I didn't change any settings from yesterday when Avast Cleanup Premium did not fully work.

Avast Cleanup Premium is no longer working. It stopped working yesterday and will not load today either.
I have valid subscriptions to both Avast Cleanup Premium and Avast Premium Security which also includes Avast Cleanup Premium. It won't load there either. What's the problem? (Very annoying!)

Hi,

based on the description you wrote I would say that something turned off the respective program services running on the background.

In order to be able to investigate what happened and be able to help you I would like to ask you to send the log files so we can investigate where the problem is.

Hi,

we apologize for the inconveniences, this is known bug in the existing version and it has been already fixed in the version we are about to release soon.
Currently we are struggling a little bit with the release but I believe we should be able to release it in 2-3 weeks.

Please be patient and wait for the update to a newer version where this issue will be fixed.

Thank you.

And as of three days ago we are back to Avast Cleanup Premium not seeing tracking cookies or browsing and download history. No settings were changed that I know of.

Update:
I ran Avast Disk Doctor and it found errors on my main drive.
Avast rebooted and fixed issues and now the Avast Cleanup Premium is fully functional again.
