Hi, the ctrl key on my keyboard stopped working from one moment to another...
It's an HP laptop with an HP driver installed, but when I go to the device manager and click on "driver details" it says: "driver furnished by: Avast".
I found this article that also mentions unresponsive keyboards due to Avast interference:
https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/36/
However, the suggested solution doesn't work for me... (the registry items I find do not correspond with the ones described in the article.)
Anybody has any ideas?
I'm not so much of a computer geek, so I don't really have any clue how to solve this.
Working on Windows 7 64bit.
Thanks in advance!

The article you linked to is for an older version of Avast.
You could try doing a repair installation of Avast https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/204/
If that does not work you may need to do a clean installation of Avast https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/10/
If the issue still persists you may need to contact the Support team.
