I also had an update on 2 computers, took about 5 minutes per computer to install.
Rebooted all seems well, have detected no problems.

Avast Internet security Version 19.7.2.388   Build 19.7.4674.494.

Also after I updated, their is a option to upgrade to Premium for free.

No issues here. A couple of minutes and one reboot.

Er... Why has the new version not been advertised on here by the Avast Team as "NEW Version 19.7 ...", replacing "NEW Version 19.6 ..."
or is this just a vicious rumour?

Edit:
Just opened UI on my Win10 machine and yes a "SECURITY UPDATE" was offered.
Now have 19.7.2388 (build 19.7.4674.494). So is true. Update via UI was painless.
I am glad that I forced a Windows update to complete earlier today to avoid any potential conflict.

Maybe tomorrow they will update the forum but there is a new update out there

I suspect that the latest beta if there were no major issues in it https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=228877.0 (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=228877.0) was the preamble to release a regular version 24hrs after that release.

That said I still hate regular releases (if this is what it is) being released with the same version number as the beta version, it just causes confusion every time.  As can be seen here from regular users.

Personally I have stopped avast doing automatic program updates some time ago.  I don't even have it notify me when one is available, I have set it to Manual Program Update.

Well I just did a manual program update and have rebooted.

And it looks a little strange as prior to the boot the version and build looked mixed up 19.7.2388 (build: 19.6.4546.517).  However after the boot it appears correct EDIT: avast! free 19.7.2388 (build: 19.7.4674.494.

I just updated Avast Free in my VM. After reboot the Avast main GUI refused to load. A spinning loading icon forever where the status screen should be. Side menus worked though. Also GUI version was .378

I had to do an extra reboot before the GUI would actually start. Version .397 this time.

I don't know what went wrong with my post as my second version and build should have been what I have in my signature avast! free 19.7.2388 (build: 19.7.4674.494.  It was just strange that prior to reboot the version and build appeared mixed up between the two

DAMMIT AVAST!

I just checked the privacy settings. A new checkbox was added and is selected by default. "Allow usage data to be shared with 3rd parties for analysis of product performance and usage".

So shady to have that enabled by default. Especially since I have the other two checkboxes unchecked. The installer could infer I would not want to have this enabled.

Shame on you Avast. Every damn time my trust in your AV gets eroded further.

So sad that I can't trust my AV to respect my privacy and I have to do these manual checks after every major update.

What avast version do you have ?

I don't see anything new on the new version of avast free, but then again you have to dig this out via Troubleshooting > Open old settings > General > Privacy and both of mine are still off (no third option).

OK I found it in the new UI under Data Settings, hardly an area I would be expecting Privacy settings as in the old settings that is exactly where they are (this new one doesn't show up there) and where they should be as they relate to privacy.

I rather doubt it given the beta was only released yesterday.

That's another thing: it is now called "Data settings". In the previous versions it was "Personal Privacy". Another layer of obfuscation.

I checked at Personal Privacy

I checked at Personal Privacy

That is because you have Avast Premium, a paid version for free users is is a bit more difficult to find and enabled by default.

NOTE: You can delete the duplicate attachments by opening your post using the Modify button, open the attachments and other options and uncheck the duplicate images.

I'm convinced the renaming of the menu is a deliberate attempt to keep people from finding the privacy settings, so they don't uncheck the boxes.

These are unchecked by default in the paid versions of Avast? Or no?

Hi Dave, here's a screenshot.

But for avast free users it is in a different location, I found it and attached an image of it for the free version in Reply #18

Interesting. What's your UI version..?

I have UI 397 with Free Version now after 19.7 update.
I see only 3 items and checkboxes under "Data Settings".
The 3rd one refers to sharing data with 3rd parties for "analysis of product performance and useage".
However, when you open the "Learn more ..." link, there is no description of that item. Assume that is new and devs have forgtten to give details. Questionable testing and quality control.

Edit:
Also note settings now states "Data Settings", whereas the "Learn more..." screen retains description as "Personal Privacy".

1. Thanks for the info, good to know.
2. Yep, it's new, let's hope it'll get updated soon.
