Not a very secure voting system (but I have voted), if you delete the cookie they leave it would allow you to vote again.

If you delete the cookie they leave it would allow you to vote again.

So I voted five times for Avast!  :D

and if You dig more You will know that multiple voting is removed from final results ...

aka what happened in Firewall poll by Comodo users ...

i think cookie erase helps when You want to vote for more / different product ...

The only way they could remove duplicates would be if the stored the IP address. Without the cookie they would have to store it with the vote. So if you have a dynamic IP address the next time you log on it is likely to be different.

However, it is technically possible to have many people assigned the same IP over time so different people could vote but if the remove duplicates based on IP address only (unlikely though), that too would make the voting inaccurate.

Avast! is way out in front in the Anti Virus software poll anyway.

I was only joking about my five extra votes and hope I have not caused any friction here!

;)

The poll is at a very early stage so not many votes have been cast, so any vote will have a large effect on the percentages. I think when I voted it was on about 33% and my vote took it up to 37% so big swings in early voting.
