Title: Please stop upselling from Smart Scan
Post by: r44flyer on September 20, 2019, 11:39:49 AM
It's disingenuous using Smart Scan as a selling opportunity.

Smart Scan should just be a quick confidence check but it annoyingly keeps...

1) selecting a random bunch of documents as 'sensitive' (it's not even very good at choosing what I call sensitive docs)
2) trying to upsell VPN
3) trying to set a monthly scheduled scan

I'll look after my documents thank you.
I don't want VPN.
Once I deselect the monthly Smart Scan it should be remembered or all these things should be selectable in Settings.
I don't even have the Sensistive Data Shield enabled so stop using it in Smart Scan.
I know what I need but inexperienced users I find are being 'frightened' into selecting Resolve All or choosing options they don't need.

And like another poster said, stop installing the browser without asking.

Personally I would stop running the NOT so Smart Scan or run it once to confirm no issues with WiFi/Network security and never run it again unless something changes on your network.

On a resident on-access antivirus, on-demand scans are greatly depreciated, so I don't run those either outside of beta testing (and I haven't done that in some time) and in relation to questions in the forums.

I avoid Smart Scan as has given me some pain in the past. Instead use WiFi Inspector from the UI to test Wifi/network security.

If you're using the Free version of Avast, simply ignore the results of the Advanced issues.
