i cant open browser in bank mode. so i cant do any banking which of course is critical. this happened last year as well and it took weeks to fix. can someone from avast at least acknowledge teh problem?

Avast has acknowledged is aware and is working on it; the problem is mentioned in numerous other Topics.

Hi,
While we are waiting on the update, please try this temporary workaround.
Go to Avast -> Menu -> Settings -> Troubleshooting and enable passive mode. Then reboot the PC, and check if Bank Mode is working and disable passive mode again.
