Title: When CA's advice is to use FF
Post by: polonus on August 19, 2006, 09:56:43 PM
Hello Malware Fighters,

Dark days with patches when CA either wants you to browse an alternate browser or IE7 beta:

Firefox has problems of its own and because of spellchecker bugs etc. had to postpone the release of FF 2.0 to a later date than August 15th. It is not encouraging, isn't it, folks?

I don't care if the smell spell checker doesn't work, I've got the SpellBound extension, had to tweak that to get it to run with 1.5.x though.

I does seem crazy to hold a 2.0 release for what is a cosmetic function like a spell checker.

I've seen several announcements regarding the delay of FF 2.0, but nothing about a spell-checker causing the problems.

Announcements such as this:

When they've worked out the bugs, and they go with a final, I for one, will be delighted to upgrade.

Edit:

If anyone's interested, you can keep track of what they're doing here:
