Incident Report for Avast Business Managed Antivirus and CloudCare
The VPS feature is currently experiencing delivery issues and we are working to resolve this imminently.
Avast’s threat detection systems consist of multiple layers of security and the automatically streamed updates from the rest of the systems ensure that our users are still fully protected.

Incident Report for Avast Business Managed Antivirus and CloudCare
We are continuing to experience issues with the delivery of our virus definitions, and are working to resolve this as soon as possible.
At this time, the most recent virus definitions have been deployed for the latest versions of Avast for Windows, and for Avast Business Managed Antivirus, we are working on bringing Mac, Linux and Avast legacy for Windows back up-to-date.
The effect here is that devices will show as out-of-date/trigger configured notifications.
Avast's threat detection systems consist of multiple layers of security and the automatically streamed updates from the rest of the systems ensure that our users are still fully protected.
In the meantime, users can temporarily disable the "virus database is out of date" alert/notification within the Avast Business Management console or CloudCare portal.

hi,
Customer have update issues since 2019/10/09, it's 3 weeks ago.
they need to know when will avast fix that problem.
-
Update - Following the attack attempt on our network which we communicated on October 21, we thoroughly scrutinized all releases which led to the suspension of VPS updates for all Avast Business products versions 9.x - 19.7 for four days, which was an important precautionary measure to analyze them for any modified code. This is the reason for the delay in the delivery of VPS updates last week. We have since confirmed that the VPS updates are secure. As a second additional step, we implemented a process whereby product updates, including VPS updates, are thoroughly checked and updated every few days, instead on a daily basis. We are working hard on returning to our regular process of issuing daily VPS updates.
For around 10% of Avast Business users who are currently still using an Avast Business version 8.x, the VPS updates are on hold and undergoing rigorous inspection. We are working hard to resolve this as soon as possible.
Despite these delays, we are confident to say that all of our users are protected. Avast’s threat detection systems consist of multiple layers of security and the automatically streamed updates that are being released continuously between the aggregate VPS updates run every 3-5 minutes to deliver virus definition data, and ensure that our business and consumer users remains fully protected at all times.

Hello and thank you, I have checked now and mine has updated to 191102-0 ( Nov 02 , 2019 )
At least now it can detect the current wave of .doc file attachment viruses which is hitting us!
However it's not completely up to date to today, in fact I see the newer avast 19.7.2573 has updated its VPS to 191103-2.
I guess it's better than nothing...
Have a nice day! :)
-
Hi 10nico,
thanks for your feedback! :)
V.8 is now up to date on VPS 191105-2! ;)

Our 8.0.1609 clients are stuck on 200108-4 here; the mirror is mirroring, but no new definitions show up.
However our win10 clients with version 19.7.2573 are updated to 200112-00
Mmmmhh.... :-\

Hi 10nico,
VPS-Updates stuck here on 200108-4, too!!!
It would be very nice, when the Avast-Team give a short statement...
Best regards

The v8 version is EOL and the VPS updates were scheduled to be stopped on 31.12.2019.
You should consider upgrading to a later version.

I don't think so:

Try these steps below...
- On the console device, browse to C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Administration Console\Mirror\Mirror and make a backup of the contents of the folder.
- Remove all files EXCEPT:
- Do the same for the C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Administration Console\Mirror\Distrib\distrib0 folder EXCEPT leaving the following 2 files in the folder:
- Run the update server definitions job from the console to repopulate the updates in the console.
- On the client device, you may need to run an update manually to clear out the old updates on the client itself. You can find the update file for the clients at https://www.avast.com/en-us/download-thank-you.php?product=VPS5&locale=en-us (https://www.avast.com/en-us/download-thank-you.php?product=VPS5&locale=en-us)
- Just save the file on the device and double click it to install.

Hi mickey.b,
a few seconds ago the new automatic VPS-Update 200113-0 came in [Avast 8.0.1497]! :)
The green Toaster-Popup shows 200108-4 after the update, but in the program (UI) I see, that it is the VPS-Update from Jan. 13th 2020!!!
Thanks a lot, at the moment it seems to be o.k....
Best regards

Short feedback from today:
I started my PC with Version 8 [8.0.1497] two minutes ago and then the automatic VPS-Update 200114-0 came in! :)
... and today the green "Toaster-Popup" was o.k., no mistake in the date of the VPS!!! ;)
Best regards

Good deal. Hopefully, it'll continue working, but if you encounter more issues, submit a case at https://www.avast.com/business-support-contact (https://www.avast.com/business-support-contact) and be sure to notate both your program version and virus definition.

Last automatic update for V8 is 200331-6... :o
Is this all right or are the problems back???
Best regards

Empty words as long as the VPS updates for Version 8 are not updated:

-
reply to SKY: same here, AES last update 200331-6, and support reqs go unanswered.
Last two sites on AES, expiring August and September of this year. Migrated six others last October during the "we got hacked but won't tell anyone so instead our techs will tell you to reboot and reinstall until you go away" fiasco.
-
Thanks for the confirmation, Jeffrey139!
It is extremely shameful that no one from Avast reports here!
Apparently everything got out of control again after the hacker scandal and the data scandal!
... and Corona is certainly NOT the reason why nobody writes anything from Avast here ...
This is how you dig your own grave!

On consumer, you can read: "Avast versions 8.x and lower aren't supported anymore and we do not update virus definitions on them."

well, I received an answer - sort of - to my latest ticket:
Avast Endpoint Protection now has an End Of Life of December 31st, 2019
https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2190355-avast-endpoint-protection-now-has-an-end-of-life-of-december-31st-2019
To solve this issue, you will need to update to the newest Avast Business product, please read the following article on Managed versus Unmanaged licenses and then let us know which type you want.
Subscription has six months left. Without notification, Avast ended support early. Three months later, and without notification, Avast simply stopped sending updates.
And the only source for this information is a posting at Spiceworks.
I've asked for a refund for the two sites that have unexpired subscriptions.
Avast is an embarrassment to the community and a disgrace to the industry.
-
and here's the response from Avast regarding refunding the unusable portion of the subscription:
We are not able to submit refund requests if it is outside 30 days of purchase due to the Avast refund policy. Let me know if you need anything else.
That's the whole response.
Avast has behaved disgracefully.
