Title: Committed memory leak when Web agent is active (W10Pro)
Post by: Psebcool on January 05, 2020, 01:58:38 AM
Hi,

I have an issue since few months about a committed memory leak on W10 Pro.

The committed memory leak growing more and more, hour by hour to the limit. When the limit is reached, all applications crash.

The growth of the committed memory is faster when I watch a streaming video on Youtube, Netflix, etc... (whatever the browser).

Even when I close all applications, the committed memory never drops !

But I discover today (from another post with exactly the same issue but with the non-page pool memory) that is the fault of Web Agent of Avast. I decided to test it by desactivating this Web Agent, and the result is positive ! Since the committed memory leak has stopped !

I already tried to uninstall and reinstall Avast, but the issue still there when the Web Agent is active.

I wanted to share this issue, hoping that an official fix will be found.

- Which Avast..? (Free/Pro/IS/Premium)
- Which version..?
- OS..? (32/64 Bit..? - which SP/Build..?)
- Other security related software installed..?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?

Avast Free 19.8.2393 (19.8.4793.545)
Windows 10 Pro x64 v1903 (18362.535)
No other security software installed other than Windows Defender
Always use Avast

And the issue is there since 4-5 months.

1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.
