Title: Computer freezing about may be Avast related.
Post by: Turnip on January 25, 2020, 11:13:50 AM
HI all

Computer froze up when I was using Avast gui, about 5 minutes after booting up.
I clicked task manager but took over 5 minutes to open.

There was over 10 instances of  Avast secure browser in process.  Was more but as soon as task manager opened and I took a screen quite a few had disappeared.

There was also a process showing Avast Antivirus service Suspended.
There also was one process showing Avast antivirus dump process

Does this mean when the computer frozen I had no virus protection.

Avast Premium Security version 19.8.2393  Build 77.2.2154.121
Avast secure Browser version     77.2.2154.121
Windows 10 Pro version 1909-1863-592

Also I have malwarebytes premium version 4.0.4.49 installed for over 8 years. I have not had conflicts that I am aware of.

Cheers

For Malwarebytes, you might want to check this out.

Thanks bob3160 much appreciated.

I have now added all the extentions, to Malewarebytes and also Avast.

I did notice this C:\Windows\System32\drivers\MbamElam.sys, so I didn't include it in exclusions.

Cheers

I personally haven't used MB for some time because it really isn't catching anything not already addressed by Avast but,
Since MB v4, the program, if allowed to run in the background, has become very system intensive. (I have a lifetime license for MB)

Thanks again bob3160

You're correct I can not remember last time i had any warning from malwarebytes. I will uninstall it and cancel auto renewal.
