Title: New beta version 20.1.2395
Post by: Karel Šťavík on February 07, 2020, 02:04:25 PM
Hi everyone,

after many weeks without any new beta release I`m glad to announce that new beta version is ready - 20.1.2395 (build 20.1.5026). As we were unable to release 19.9 to public (due to many reasons), we switched the version to 20.1 and prepare another beta. It means that 20.1 is not completely new release, but it follows up the 19.9 release.

What's new
Browser extensions
- Improved detection of status of browser extensions
- Added support of detection in Opera browser
Update process of user interface was improved
Smart Scan improvements - Advanced issues - when everything is ok, we are showing "green" results instead of hidding the tab

What was fixed
- Rescue Disc is working again
- It is now possible to export certificate in Mail Shield settings

Known issues
- Status of Chrome browser extension is not reported correctly in Avast UI

Enjoy this beta!
We are looking forward to your feedback.

Because it's already 2020 ;D

Anyway, thanks for the new beta 8)

Still not able to attach virus check message when sending messages. The check mark won't stay.

I would rather see remove most bloatware, spyware and adware alongside with behaviour shield to make Avast faster, less annoying, more private and no broken installations of legit software due to FP in Behaviour shield.

This is ironic,

Installing the Beta on a system that already has the Avast Secure Browser installed,
Resulted in the removal of the Secure Browser.

No issues here after initial install bumps.
Also I think as mentioned, the 'Earn Rewards' option in settings is still visible but not functioning.

Hi Bob,

thanks for the report. Both buttons should start working after whole scan is finished. The main issue here is the fact that purple bubble should not be visible during the scan. Hopefully will be fixed soon.

Best regards,

Rescue Disk - It was stated that it's working again,
I've now had one computer tied up for over 1 hr and am at 21%
Sorry but to me that doesn't mean it's working.  :(
Do I really need to use a competitors rescue disk?

Here is a link to Panda Antivirus USB Cloud Cleaner which I have successfully used to create a stand alone USB drive, boot from it, and scan an infected computer.

The problem is you're depending on Panda to find any infections. They aren't that well rated.

Hello Bob. I checked the logs you send me. It seems it was still downloading toolkit required to create rescue disk. The toolkit has 1.7 GB so it can take a long time to download.
When you click on Cancel and it didn't stop - that's a bug we will fix, download wasn't properly interrupted. The process was interrupted after download.
When you try it again, it should install already downloaded toolkit and continue to create rescue disc iso. Can you please try it again without clicking Cancel to check if it works?

I restarted the process this morning. It continued from where it left off and completed fairly quickly without any problems.
