Title: Suspected Commercial Usage?
Post by: sploot868 on February 29, 2020, 09:09:15 PM
I run Avast Free on my laptop. I used to use it to do school work in college. Now I've mainly been using it to stay organized while I'm planning my wedding. Other than that, it sits in the corner the majority of the time. Today I booted up the laptop and I got a notification from Avast that they've detected suspected commercial usage from me and a warning that my license was for home use only. I was pretty confused.
What could I be doing that would trigger this? Is it really a big deal if I know that it's an occasionally used personal laptop? My fiance works from home on a separate computer provided by his employer. Would his activity on our WiFi be setting off Avast's flags?

A screenshot would be helpful.
Not anything I've ever seen in all the years I've used Avast.

A problem I have also seen a couple of times recently - ignored it and it went away for a while. I have a suspicion it only happens after I have installed a product update.  Next time I will try to remember to take a screen shot.
