Title: Avast Online Security deactivate in Avast Secure Browser
Post by: guillermo220 on March 03, 2020, 03:01:06 AM
Why is this happening. I installed the extension. Then I activated. But when I restart the browser the extension is deactivated again.

Hi, no need to install it in ASB, it's already included there.

Thanks for the answer.
I´ll post in that forum next time.
One last question about it: it may be included in the browser but there are functions not available as the ranking of sites or the icon in the bar.  Or I am mistaken?

You're welcome. Not sure about that, it doesn't show up in DDG here.

You can manually install it from here while using the Secure Browser:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/avast-online-security/gomekmidlodglbbmalcneegieacbdmki
Once installed that way, all the settings are available.

Thank you Bob.
I installed like you said. But everytime I shutdown the browser next time I open it the extension is deactivated. That was the original question.

What version of Secure Browser are you using?

Hi,

Avast Secure Browser está actualizado.
Versión 79.0.3060.80 (Build oficial) (32 bits)

This says that the browser is up to date.
But, as I write this text the browser informed me that there is a security update.
So I´m going to update it and then see what happens.
Thank you for everything.

Well, nothing good happens. The browser is still in the same version. But it seems heavier in resources.
The problem is still there. Everytime I reboot the browser the extension is deactivated.
And why is there 12 instances of avast services, many duplicate?

Clean install of the Secure Browser:
Maybe it's time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Book Marks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.
A video to help with the installation: https://youtu.be/r_VLA0HMLQM
Report back if that's solved the problem or not.
Avast has offered a seperate tool to totally remove the Secure Browser if the above instructions don't work.
You can find that tool here, https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=230288.msg1531315#msg1531315
