It never ceases to amaze my how these takeovers turn to rat droppings.

Surely the acquired company would retain the name (as it is very established) and underlying infrastructure rather than try and hive everything off to their own servers, etc. only to find they are insufficient to meet the additional load.  Hacking off your paid users isn't going to benefit the business.
