Title: Webshield makes using Chrome practically impossible...

Since yesterday evening (March 4th) the webshield of my Avast Free Antivirus is blocking most of my internet browsing activity through Chrome. Facebook is working however flawlessly. Most other favorites are not working, unless I deactivate Avast' webshield. I have been using Avast since 12 years without any problems. Advice much desired...

Repair Avast:
Open the Avast User Interface > Menu > Settings > Troubleshooting > Repair App. > Restart the Computer or,
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.

You say the Avast web shield is blocking most of your internet browsing activity through Chrome. 

How is this presenting its self ?
e.g. what errors or alerts are you getting, a couple of screenshot of those could be helpful.
