Title: Win 10 Microsoft security says I have a problem
Post by: kraken.sankey on March 12, 2020, 11:20:43 AM
I get a pop up from microsoft 'security' stuff saying I have a issue:- Hacktool:win32/netpass. My Avast system doesn't detect anything. Netpass is something I have used to search all passwords on my PC. Is it a 'threat' or is it MS being 'nit picky ?

Test the file at VT (https://www.virustotal.com) and post the link to the result here.

Hacktool:win32/netpass

Not a virus but a riskware: a warning from microsoft that you have a riskprogram that can be used for good or bad depending on who installed it on your computer

if you upload the file to VT as suggested by @Asyn you will probably see a ton of detections but some have "not a virus" or "riskware" in the detection name
