Title: AntiTrack Premium Error
Post by: mchain on March 16, 2020, 06:41:34 AM
May this missive find everyone in good health or on the mend...

(See first .png for error message.)

(Second .png is a snip of the frozen GUI which remains on the screen for about 10 seconds and then crashes.)

Error is reported when operating in a Secondary Administrative Full User Account.  This account is used as a back-up in case the primary user full user account fails or is corrupted.

This error does not appear in either the Primary or Limited user accounts.

AntiTrack was installed in the Primary Administrative Full User Account with full user rights.  It works there, and it also works in a Limited User account provided the Primary Administrative Full User Account password is invoked in that account to run it - within the limited account.

Full protection is stable only in both Primary Full User and Limited Accounts.

I've found you cannot run AntiTrack in the Seconday Administrative Full User Account as shown by the error above.  Due to a Windows security feature, it is not possible to invoke the Primary Admininstrative Full User Account password when attempting to start AntiTrack in the Secondary Administrative Full User Account.

Also, attempting to also install AntiTrack in the Secondary Administrative Full User Account will result in sporadic crashes in browser protection. This results in an inability for Anti-Track to block incoming tracking in all three accounts, as this feature will always crash after a time (usually 30 minutes or so) if it is able to run.

Sounds like a bug?

As AntiTrack was re-installed March 12, 2020 at 9:15 PM, it was done because I upgraded Windows 10 64-bit 1809 to 1909.

I forgot to mention this earlier.  The reason for the re-install was none of the browsers were showing in the GUI as installed after the upgrade was done.  (See ErrorLog1.txt below)  This original installation was installed twice, once in the primary admin account and again in the the secondary admin account.  Quote below refers to this earlier install.  (See originating post above)  After Windows 10 was upgraded, AntiTrack was uninstalled/installed again.  (This installation works but not in the secondary admin account.)

Also, attempting to also install AntiTrack in the Secondary Administrative Full User Account will result in sporadic crashes in browser protection. ErrorLog.txt is the current install and AntiTrack is installed only in the primary admin account.

I've looked and cannot find the install log on the following path:  Install log: the "install.log" file is located in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\AVAST Software\AvastAntiTrackPremium\

File Explorer Options has been set to show hidden files, folders, and drives.  Additionally, Hide protected operating system files was unchecked.  Unable to find the AntiTrack 'install.log'.

The avast support tool has not been sent.  (See 4th .png below)

I have installed AvastAntiTrackPremium on Win10/1909.
The computer magazin c´t 12/2020 gives me the tool Desinfec´t2020.
I checked the Win10 partition with the ESET virus scanner.
ESET says me: In AvastAntiTrackPremium the netfilter2.sys is a potentially unsafe applicationl
What is to do?

Test the file at VT (https://www.virustotal.com) and post the link to the result here.

Hi,

If it is located in AvastAntiTrackPremium folder e.g. (C:\Program Files (x86)\AVAST Software\AvastAntiTrackPremium\NetFilter\BatchFiles\driver\tdi\wpp\amd64), then it should be safe.
