Title: Phishing tentative in google chrome app
Post by: pierrealexandre.picard+test on March 31, 2020, 05:17:43 PM
Hello,

I have some regular blocked phishing alerts: a gif image in Google Chrome Helper called from a Chinese website (see screenshot attached).

I deleted Google Chrome cache, re-installed my mac and it's still there...

What could I do?

thank you for your help.

Hello,

these popups are caused by browser accessing phishing sites automatically. This typically happens either when you type an address (as browser remembers previously browsed pages and tries to preload them based on what it thinks you are typing) or after a start of the browser. Unfortunately in this case, the browsers are often integrated/synchronised into cloud, or alternatively browser plugins can eg. synchronise history amongst your multiple computers, so reinstall can only lead to redownload of your whole browsing history :(

I would suggest trying deleting your activity in your google account (https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/465?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en) and afterwards do it once again in Chrome.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
