Title: Has Avast been hacked?...
Post by: iswan on April 26, 2020, 07:22:48 PM
My toolbar icon says "not protected", and I can't access the virus scan function of my Avast program. I keep getting a "UI not available" message, so I can't perform a virus scan. Any one else?

Unlikely to have been hacked, more likely a program problem.

Try the Avast Repair function:
Control Panel - Programs > Uninstall A Program > select the Avast Antivirus > Uninstall (it doesn't uninstall immediately) - from the next screen there should be an option to Repair.  On completion restart the system (complete shutdown followed by a Start).

Use the Restart function. Not the shut down and then start your computer again.
