Title: Update to 20.2 causes INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
Post by: hannu60 on April 28, 2020, 09:48:51 PM
Updating Avast 20.1 to 20.2 causes INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE after restart.
Recovery from restore point ok.
Update itself seems to be ok, but restart fails.
BIOS, drivers and Windows are up to date.

HP ProDesk 400 G3 MT (3 years old)
238GB SAMSUNG MZ7LN256HMJP-000H1 (SATA (SSD))
931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZRZ-00HTKB0 (SATA )

Windows 10 Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.815)

Tried to resolve this for three weeks (updated BIOS, drivers, new windows updates, removed Intel Rapid Storage Technology etc...), nothing helps.

Avast Free Antivirus 20.1.2397 (build 20.1.5069.562)
Other security related software installed: SuperAntiSpyware (service stopped), Malwarebytes Free 3.7.1
Avast has been installed all the time

1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

PS: Regarding Avast & Malwarebytes, see: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/200324-exclusions-for-avast-users/
