Title: Killbox
Post by: drhayden1 on September 07, 2006, 02:47:06 PM
Ever have a virus or other program that you can't get rid of because it won't die long enough for you to delete it? When Spybot, Ad-Aware, and others fail, turn to Killbox. This handy-dandy download will kill anything currently running on your PC, so you can remove it. Simply enter the path of the offending guest, and Killbox will go to town on it. Think of it like the in-memory mafia. Killbox doesn't care, it will take out pretty much anything. From time to time those of us less technologically savvy (relatives, family, friends) need help with renegade programs too, so if they ever have this problem, at least now you know a guy. Sort of. No problem, he take care of it. Don't worry about it.

Killbox,  unlocker and moveonboot are all very similar but the one I like is moveonboot.  Purely 'cos it is the one I use most..

- MoveOnBoot http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html
- Unlocker is also good as it also has a few additional features to not only delete the files but stop any process that is stopping you from deleting a file.

So you can probably because of the extra functionality I use Unlocker that allows you to deal with the problem without a reboot as it can kill the processes locking it.

Hi malware fighters,

Also don't forget the BFU, brute force uninstaller with special scripts:

examples:

http://www.spywarefix.org/repos/bfu-scripts/

http://metallica.geekstogo.com/EGDACCESS.bfu

there are also bfu's for various kazaa versions, for MediaGateway
etc.
Nice tool in the hands of the malware fighter,

polonus

BFU is a bit more complex than the others Pol.  I only use that in conjunction with other specialised removal tools as you need to write a small script to get the best out of it.  But it is powerful..

Hi there drhayden1.  Yep I still visit sometimes and once I qualify I'll  be back (in an Arnie accent)  8)
