Tried using trial Avast firewall and it keeps asking for Google Chrome's access to the Internet even if it is allowed for any connection.
This is really frustrating.

Did not work, but thank you. It still asks for Google Chrome.

Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Have the same problem with Adobe Reader. Opening a .pdf file Adobe asks for internet access, which i want to deny.
Firewall keeps asking everytime i open a .pdf-file.
The solution with the Repair App and Rebooting didnt work.
Avast is updated to the newest version.

The windows from the Avast firewall keep popping up after installing the last update (20.3.2405).
The file shield switched off.
The app "repaired".
Restarted several times.

2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

Sadly it did not work for me.
Followed the steps and also reinstalled the Adobe Reader too.
The problem still persists. Opening a pdf file reader ask for internet access. Denying it will set the permission in the firewall table. Closing the pdf and opening another another pdf file i get another popup to allow internet access.
EDIT: So far Adobe Reader is the only programm with that behavior. Tested it with other programms for example firefox and it did work as intended.
Hopefully that issue can be resolved.

I think avast is not yet ready with its new firewall architecture.
Me too, it doesn't want to retain some rules when it is configured on "ask" (adobe acrobat , avast secure browser , avast browser update,...).
This had been solved on version 20.2 by an emergency update, but since the upgrade to version 20.3, the problem has come back as well if you allow or deny some applications (it also happened once with thunderbird)...I think there are still some failures in the build of the firewall.
A repair has no effect.
Of course it may be possible to solve the problem with a clean re-install or by sending a support file but I'm a bit tired of paying for a product that takes so much effort to be usable in full reliability and openness. :-\
edit :2 new times for thunderbird.

This is happening constantly with me too. I just renewed my subscription; all up to date. Windows 10 pro.
Chrome is constantly asking for access to the point i am swearing lots !
If this is not sorted i want a refund so i can ditch this poor excuse of a firewall

You are right , the "asks" had calmed down after the emergency update of version 20.3, but these incessant requests came back with version 20.4 (for me) :(
I was forced to reschedule on "auto decision."
