I downloaded installer in incognito mode and it has different hash but also smaller size than installer downloaded normally under firefox? Why is that?
-
Normal file size 228kb
File from Incognito mode size 225kb
-
Did you use the same download location/link..?
-
Yes, download from Avast website in european (english version): https://www.avast.com/en-eu/download-thank-you.php?product=FAV-ONLINE&locale=en-eu
-
Strange, wait for one of the devs and/or submit a ticket: https://support.avast.com/contact (paid versions)
-
When you using direct link, try download twice to find out change of file size in incognito mode. When downloading by googling avast site, size should be different from a first download.
-
You can try the full installer: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe

I installed from this incognito mode installer. Virustotal thinks it is ok, file is signed etc. but I'm just curious why there is a diference in file size.

Hi,
This occurs in "Incognito mode" irrespective of the browser used and only on subsequent downloads not the first.
-
But are all of this installers legit and safe? I saw that analogical situation is with offline installers.

Check the digital signature of the installers. If there's a valid digital signature by Avast (which most likely means "AVAST Software s.r.o." now - though that may change to a different branch), it's OK.
