I have a home built Desktop where I recently installed AVAST (Uninstalling the ISP provided AV).
I had previously purchased a 5 PC license for a single laptop as that was less expensive than adding a license to my current 3 PC plan and I liked Avast's features better.
So far I am happy with the product, I especially like the VPN access (even though I have my own as well, my wife and my daughter didn't) and the Sandbox. Even though I run a few VM for that purpose, the Avast solution is quicker.
Now here is my issue: when I checked my drives, Avast passed all of them except for my C drive. It asked me if I wanted it fixed but I didn't go through with it.
I have 5 Hard Drives connected to my main PC, my C Drive is a PCIe SSD, specifically a Seagate FIRECUDA 510. I also have another 1TB Seagate (the spinning kind) that is at 20% efficiency according to a dedicated software I run. It's an old drive I use to backup files that if I lose is not mission critical. They usually sit there for a day at the most so I have them handy but they are also saved on a cloud drive.
Yet, this really old a battered HD raised no issues with Avast Disk Doctor.
I am frankly hesitant to try to fix my C drive. I am not going to lose any data in case of a catastrophe, but setting up my computer again the way I like best takes me from 1 to 2 weeks on average (and a lot of swearing. I know because I went through it last month when I rebuilt my desktop)
I was wondering what others have to say about Disk Doctor. Is it worth trying? I could, in theory, make an image of it through one of my laptops, which would mean boot up with Linux and then image my C drive in case it goes south, but I'd rather not go through that pain if I can help it.
Is there maybe a more granular report I can access? So I can judge how severe the issue is?
Windows own Disk Doctor like program gave no warnings at all.

Hello,
I understand your concerns. This feature is not something you absolutely have to go through or otherwise your PC won't work as intended, it is rather a recommendation.
If you are hesitant whether it is worth to try it out I would recommend you to do the initial scan in Disk Doctor feature and you should get to a similar screen like the one below where is a link to a detailed report you could check on your own.
This report should give you a better idea about the nature of the detected problem and ideally you should be able to make a more informed decision.
