Title: Unable to renew Avast Free Antivirus license

The main window shows warning icon with text "Avast Free Antivirus has expired". There are a whole of three buttons to renew it: red "ACTIVATE" on the left, green "SELECT PROTECTION" in the center, green "REACTIVATE" on the bottom panel. Each of those opens "Select you security level" dialog with two options: "Avast Free Antivirus / Your current protection" (white "SELECT" button) and "Avast Premium Security" (green "SELECT" button). Clicking the first button for the free version shows a dialog "Thank you for activating Avast Free Antivirus / Your loyalty pays off -- 73% OFF", I close it. The main window continues to show "Avast Free Antivirus has expired" and does so after a reboot. This has been going on for months. Reinstalling does not help.

I recently saw similar issue on an user's machine, that mysteriously resolved by multiple attempts using OFFLINE installer and uninstall utility.
So I would suggest using offline installer after using uninstall utility, that might help.

@NON: I've been using both offline (full) installers and normal online updates, doesn't work.

Make sure Avast isn't blocked by a firewall and try again.

Before installing the "offline" version, make sure:
1-having uninstalled with avastclear in safe mode
2-to have cleaned up your windows history (temp)
3-to have deleted the file "license.avastlic", it happens that even using the tool, the file remains ... and it is this one that indicates that your license has expired (Without it, I don't know where avast would get the information on expired licenses or not.]. In this case delete it manually. Make a search in windows but it is generally in the folder C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Subscriptions

- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?
