Title: "side-by-side" configuration error (potentially Windows 10 2004 issue)
Post by: kijustas on June 20, 2020, 09:24:47 PM
Hey there,

So after having updated my Windows 10 yesterday the newest 2004 version, SecureLine VPN is unable to start anymore.

After manually starting vpn.exe, I get the message: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detai".

Sadly, do not posses sufficient tech skills to extract any useful information via that command...

Any suggestions?

Hi,

This error normally indicates a corrupted file issue (Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable)
To fix this issue, you could run Microsoft Updater again.
Re-install the application that caused the error message.
Or repair/reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

Reinstalling the app solved the issue. Hope this was a one-time bug.
Thanks for the help!
