Title: Avast suddently uninstalled??!!
Post by: Amiga2 on July 02, 2020, 08:11:58 PM
Today I clicked on Avast password browser addon since it wasn't filing out my login details.
I said "Ooops.... Avast needs to be installed to use this...".
I clicked on the shortcut on my desktop but it lead nowhere...
I browsed to programs folder and foud the Avast-folder was empty?!
How and what the ****?!

-Running Windows 10 on brand new laptop.
-Both laptop and Windows fully updated.
-Home network is secured.
-Running Avast Premium edition.
-Hardly have any other software installed since it's brand new, and certainly not anything suspicious.
-Haven't had my laptop out of the house or browsed anything even remotely untrustworthy.

How did this happen? Anyone else experienced this?

Hi,

A process/user has to run Avast uninstaller for it to be removed. It may happen (rarely) that Avast is removed after a major system update (incompatibility issue).

Could you provide us with some logs, please?
To generate the support file, please see this link.

Please paste the support file id here.
If the logs still exist, we should be able to determine what happened.Location: C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Persistent Data\Avast\Logs

After you have created the logs, you can Restart your device.
It might be that an Avast program update did not finish.
