Title: why are there so many ads and upsells?

I have been using Avast for years. But it seems like now everything i do with Avast comes first with an upsell offer or an ad for new Avast product.
Why???  i am a paying customer.  Please its out of hand at this point.

Tell you what, give us a plan "commercial free".  I'll pay extra for that!

You can disable the ads in the paid versions: Avast GUI -> Settings -> Personal Privacy

My problem is that my subscription is coming to an end. and several times every day while I am working on my computer, I get an Avast renewal notice popping up. It freezes my computer for a 20 seconds and I have to X out to return to my work. There is no way I can find to stop it. I have emailed "contact help". It has gone on for about a month and is getting more frequent as I get down to my last day. I have bought a new laptop and because of this unrelenting harassment I am switching to MccAffrey.
