Title: Ghost icon with red exclamation point in scan history
Post by: kravmagaclay on August 06, 2020, 03:01:49 AM
After the most recent Avast update I have noticed a new unexplained symbol in the scan results tab: A ghost with a red exclamation point over it. This symbol shows on all of my full system scans. All of the scans show no viruses or malware detected, and nothing is there to explain the purpose or meaning of this icon. Could someone please tell me what this symbol means and why it is there?

Image 1: Scan results page, showing how symbol is on all full system scans
Image 2: Scan results of most recent full system scan

Note: I use a custom full scan for my system, the settings are as follows:
Scan type: Full Virus Scan
Frequency: Never
Sensitivity: High
Scan for PUPs: Yes
Follow links during scan: Yes
Test whole files: Yes
Scan priority: High
Scan areas: All harddisks, all removable media, rootkits, UEFI BIOS, CM-ROM and DVD drives, Startup programs and modules loaded in memory
Packers and Archives: Scan all archives
File Types: Scan all files
Perform action during scan: Fix automatically
Set to not shut down after scan or generate a report file

I see. So in other words it is not confirmed exactly what that symbol means however as long as the scan results show 0 infected files (like it does with my scan) there is no real reason to be concerned, especially since Avast always scans files as soon as they are added, modified, or opened (not to mention monitoring application behavior and internet activity/connections) so if your system is infected Avast should know more or less immediately.

Correct.
