Hi, just curious, how much performance improvement are we talking about here?

Hi avreckless are you referring to something specific e.g. moving Antivirus configuration from file to registry or in general? Thank you.

For the interested ones, in UI 551 you can switch to Omni theme/design.

moving Antivirus configuration from file to registry
Yes, that's what i meant. Thanks.
I remember not long ago Avast used to consume around 40-50 MB with my configuration. Now it's 80-90. I'm running a low end machine so RAM usage is quite important to me.

I took the plunge and installed this beta. The RAM usage is the same 80-90 MB. I understand RAM usage does not fully reflect a program's resource usage, just something easily to measure.

Well, basically RAM is there to be used - it's the fastest memory.
If your system runs smooth, I wouldn't worry about its RAM usage.

I'd prefer if (un)installer asked me if I want to keep anything or not. And then do actions accordingly. If I say "Remove everything" it should act like I'm running avast! Uninstall Utility. Leave NOTHING behind. If I decide to leave something behind, do so. It's really annoying that apps leave bunch of crap behind which just ends up being a liability or issue vector later in time, especially when reinstalling because of an issue...

After the last few updates, I've noticed and have had to restore the spinning circle in windows 10.
To fix it I've had to go into SystemPropertiesAdvanced and under advanced restart animate controls and elements in windows.
(note it is checked but not working.) I have to uncheck and re-check and then apply the change to get the animation back.
I've also noticed that when I don't see that spinning circle while the system is either restarting or shutting down
that's when I usually have a problem with the shutdown procedure where it hangs forever.
I also know that Avast has been adding items to the registry and wonder if it's effected this behavior?

Hello,
don't worry, RAM usage for registry configuration is almost the same as for ini files. It's just a thin layer in our settings module.
From performance point of view, read is also very similar to ini files, write will be a bit faster since there is no need to save whole settings file to disk.
