Title: Steam monster hunter false positive?
Post by: Zoart666 on August 23, 2020, 03:05:07 PM
I was downloading monster hunter world through steam after a fresh windows install.

as it was downloading, it gave off an alert "GFSDK_SSAO.win64.dll" is seen as win64:malware-gen.

I assume this is a false positive?

You can test it on: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/

Did that www.virustotal.com/gui/file/79fc0096800b3b686a883c6d570965f1dc7134a071208bddfb85d5685322450a/detection

Seems AVG is still detecting it, avast not anymore I think

I would say it is a FP.

I would say it is a FP.

I see, I wonder what triggered it though. Seeing that it's not exactly a new file in general

I would say it is a FP.

It seems a lot of people are having this pop up, from killing floor and Witcher 3, I have it happen on monster hunter.

Seems a wide spread fp then.

But I guess I want more of a confirmation that it's a FP as I did send it for analysis through avast as well.
