Title: Error 126 on startup
Post by: klaxon62 on April 13, 2003, 10:02:19 PM
Recently installed v4 Home edition on NT4 SP6

Anytime I start the Simple user interface the splash screen indicated a memory scan taking place, then gives a message:
"The scan completed with error.  126 = The specified module could not be found".

Avast otherwise working as expected.

Any ideas?

Please search your hard drive for a file called psapi.dll. Is it there? Where exactly is it located? How large is it?

Thanks
Vlk

I guess we've given up on this one?

This file should also exist in the \winnt\system32 folder.
In Windows XP it is so.

clweb is right, try copying the file to the windows\system32 folder. Interesting that Dreamweaver uses psapi.dll, but unless you have the Dreamweaver folder on the PATH, avast cannot access it. Placing it to the system directory will let avast use it (alternatively, you can copy it to the avast4 folder).

Please send us the result of this test -- I'm quite curious. I've seen more people having the same problem on NT4.

Hope this helps,
Vlk

Yup, sure nuf.  Putting psapi.dll in path did the trick.

Thanks guys.
