I have avast in silent mode and the only notification (that I can't remove) is the one telling me it's in silent mode.
When I'm playing a game, Avast keeps popping up and minimising the game for no reason at all. There is no alert, it's just the normal screen you get when you click on the icon in the bottom right.
How do I stop this happening? It's starting to get really annoying.

I have been having the same issue, was playing a game and Avast decided to be rude, and minimize my game and popup the Smart Scan window.. Had me scrambling to close the blasted window, so could get back into the game before what I was doing in game got messed up.. After I did a repair not sure if it fixed it, but I did turn off Silent mode option and so far it has been behaving.. So I am thinking that Silent mode is broken..
Well it seems that even after repairing and what not, the problem is still happening and it is getting to the point of being really infuriating..

It's an issue that's come up for a lot of people within the past day or so.
It's "harmless" as far as I can tell, just takes focus away from whatever you're doing at the time.
I'm guessing it's some behind-the-scenes patch Avast did that is causing this.

Avast, please fix this. I paid for premium security already. I don't need your pop-ups on my screen every 10 minutes - it makes me want to uninstall Avast and switch to Norton.

Same here. 3 separate machines...almost precisely at the same time popping up...

Seems like it's happening whenever Avast updates it's virus definitions.

It's an issue that's come up for a lot of people within the past day or so.
It's "harmless" as far as I can tell, just takes focus away from whatever you're doing at the time.
I'm guessing it's some behind-the-scenes patch Avast did that is causing this.
Harmless is good! Not, if you have your unversity courses online! >:(

It's not silent mode for me, it's the entire main app popping up constantly. It's kind of driving me crazy.

I'm getting this notification popping up about every 10-15 minutes as well and I too have that Silent mode turned on ... could this be an issue with the Silent mode option failing? Going to need some new update to the Avast Premium Security app soon. It's very annoying having the notification screen pop up everytime when I don't need it to.

I don't know if this might be a Notification related popup.
In which case check the Settings > General > Notifications area checked or unchecked.

I already have made sure my silent mode is selected as on. BUT, pop up still happening.

I came here as I had the exact same issue.
I wondered if Avast detected something, but no, it just pops like this randomly, minimizing my game when I play.

Created my account to come and report this issue. Silent Mode is on. Popup keeps pulling me out of my game or program to tell me that my computer is protected. I've tried restarting and repairing. It's still happening.

Same issue here. Just started a few days ago. I tried putting it in silent mode and the screen continually pops up telling me I'm in silent mode. It is aggravating.

I have Silent Mode enabled. Now, the only pop-up I get is Silent mode telling me it's disabling pop-ups - REPEATEDLY.
So I disable AVAST until restart. Now I get a pop-up telling me I've disabled AVAST until restart.
I'm seconds from deleting and moving to another anti-virus! Please fix!

To be sure, that all what you reported is the same issue, please who can, send me please avastui.log + avastsvc.log from c:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\ + time when this happened. the most problematic "triggers" of this issue were stopped on server side. What it means: if you can see in avastui.log rows, where one of these are mentioned:
AVAST_AV_CB_MIGRATION_SOFT_NAG
AVAST_AV_CB_MIGRATION_HARD_NAG
computer restart should help you. After the restart new definitions from our servers are downloaded and these definitions disable this two items.

With mine, silent mode is on and the game I have been playing is on the "do not disturb" list. It still keeps popping up regularly and minimising my game. I have restarted twice now and it's still doing it.
If Avast doesn't fix this soon, I will be cancelling my subscription and going elsewhere, I can't put up with everything I am doing being interrupted every few minutes.

I will try a restart and see if it helps.
UPDATE: I've not restarted, but also not seeing more popups (for now) so I think whatever you did on the server side has worked.

Read it, tried it and it didn't work.
I did try using my VPN and now my IP says I'm in Sweden. Strange that it seems to have stopped it. Wondering if it's Avast firewall responding to an attack since it is switched on for my PC. Can anyone else with this problem confirm that their Avast firewall is on?

You've rebooted and it still does it?
Hmm...Mine's actually been fine since sometime late last night.
Maybe try manually updating your definitions?

You should start a new thread as this one dated from September 24, 2020 some 3 1/2 years ago.
Among other things, the program version you are using is likely newer and upgraded, so changes made since then should be taken into account.
