Title: Avast Will Not Uninstall
Post by: justinlasky on October 05, 2020, 02:10:54 AM
I have the free version of Avast and have had it for years.  Now, trying to uninstall I have tried everything listed in various websites and this forum and cannot get it to uninstall.  I tried regular mode, safe mode, regular control panel uninstall, avastclear download, etc., etc.  No luck.  It's stuck on the uninstall screen with zero progress no matter what I do.

Please help me.  If I just delete all the files, folders, and registry keys via Revo Uninstaller, will that cause problems?  Thanks for your help.

Read this thread: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=238475.0

That should probably help, until a fix is rolled out by the devs.

Hi, that thread has no solution that makes any sense to me.  Can someone make a step by step version I can use?

What does this mean:

"Right click and troubleshoot compatability
Test software / run in windows 8."

Download the utility to uninstall.
Run windows in safe mode.
When you open in safe mode, right click the utility and click troubleshoot compatability.

its quite simple and should work for you.

Yes it shouldn't be an  issue to run a file in compatibility mode, when you choose that, then just choose that it ran on windows 8 and that should solve it.
