Title: Nano Adblocker/Defender left by developer - discontinued...
Post by: polonus on October 10, 2020, 11:21:44 PM
L.S.

Nano Adblocker/Defender now discontinued, code left by developer.

Read: https://github.com/NanoAdblocker/NanoCore/issues/362
Users weren't informed and are running risks in the future, back to uBlock Origin.

Another extension that is now no longer being maintained by the developer is uMatrix.

Probably all because of the coming restrictions inside Google Chrome and Chromium-like browsers
with another far more restricted extnsion-api.

There certainly are certain parties that frown on preferred ad-blocking.

@ Asyn,

With Nano-Adblocker and uMatrix now "in limbo" as left-code, we are back to square 1,
leaving us just with Giorgio Maone's NoScript, also one of the two default extensions to enter Tor browser
(NoScript and HTTPS Everywhere) for script blocking and against http: downgrading attacks etc.
It is a pity that we have lost uMatrix as a fine extension,
and there is no new fork and new maintenance for that particular extension in sight for the moment.

We just have to wait and see, whether ABP with their letting through certain preferred ads
(through their German Office) relenting also on Google's preferred scheme for the future,
block all but Google's approved content) will survive as the only one tolerated ad-blocking solution/situation!?!
This by restricting the total number of ads that can be blocked with the new planned extension-api.

Brave browser as per default already adjusted to that coming situation
as have some other so-called privacy oriented browsers.

No need to go with ABP, uBlock Origin is still maintained/developed by Raymond. :)
