Title: Avast Service running at 100% CPU
Post by: bryan207 on November 07, 2020, 03:36:21 AM
Avast upgraded itself a few days back to 2.8.2432 (build 20.8.5684.604).

Dashboard says everything is OK, and no scans or similar seem to be running.

Task Manager has the Avast Service at 100% (if nothing else is using CPU) and the machine of course is horribly slow as a result.

I've rebooted a couple of times, and then let the service run for 24 hours in case it was actually doing something and would finish but it seems not.

Anyone else seen this problem?  It's only since the recent upgrade, prior to that I have had no problems for the years I've using it.

Sorry, that's Windows 10 b1803, on a Toshiba Satellite with AMD A6-6310 if that helps at all.

Uninstall and reinstall fixed it.  Must be some kind of weirdo upgrade issue.
