I got the attached screenshot as a warning after the latest update for Windows version 20H2 (Avast ver. 20.9.2437 - build 20.9.5758.607).
I was given the option to BLOCK or ALLOW.
I chose ALLOW as I knew the app was just Edge.
Thought this was just a false positive from the new Windows but I also notice I didn't have access to stored passwords (auto fill login info) until I restarted the browser.
EDIT: Found ALLOW APP setting and removed it and Avast produced the same warning and results. Think this is a bug with the new Chromium Edge built into the update, even though this isnt a fresh install.

Side note that I'm posting to Windows groups...
Just did a fresh install and upgrade to Windows 20H2 on another PC and got an error from Microsoft trying to download Avast on Edge (second run of Edge to get rid of 'Whats New' page).
Dont know if Avast needs to contact MS but ya'all probably have better luck than my lonely voice shouting on MS/TechNet forum :P
I did report the app as safe too.
EDIT: Avast gave me the same warning dialog after it got installed and I reopened Edge on the machine I just did the fresh install on as well.

Problem w/ password protection and Edge is fixed in production version via virus definition. Fix for beta version is on the way.

Apologies for necro, but this same warning hit me today.
Has the bug reoccurred?

Same problem here...
Right now, i dont use "Edge", so - I chose "BLOCK". But later i might need it.
So... it would be nice - to fix this "bug".
Thanks.

It happens to me as well.

This just happened to me this morning... any idea what might have caused it over two years later? I blocked it.
