Title: please help... I cant update avast

can someone please help.... ive managed to stuff up avast and now it wont update at all.....
this is the log i get after it attempts to....

itlooks like on e of the ALWIL servers is down it should be up shortly

I had same problem yesterday, but I knew that something is wrong with server. I tried to surf avast! web site, and I couldn't get through... Today, everything is back on track... works just fine.

Have you guys ever tried to do virus update for AVG antivirus ? Right before I switched to avast!, I used to use AVG. True is that AVG is not bad antivirus at all, quite good... but, uploads of virus definitions... ouch!

Yes, this server is down since the heavy traffic problem last Wednesday. They promised us to establish a special server for us on Friday, but till now they did not finish it  :(

We hope to solve this problem soon anyway!

angel: this doesn't look like problem of one of our servers. The log clearly states that updater was unable to check all 5 of them. Try again - if the result is the same, I would suspect your firewall/proxy settings. Search the forum, please, there are lots of info about setting most home firewalls to let avast go thru. Also check our FAQ.

Thanks everyone for your help, you guys are awesome...

It turns out that coupled with the server being down that a file I had inadvertantly deleted for zone-alarm was causing this problem (cheers for the hint kubecj  8)), after re-installing zone-alarm both programs were running at their usual superb standard...
