Title: Love Avast, but why does it rank so low?

 Would really like to see Avast detecting more viruses, particularly the polymorphic kind.
 2/10 is disappointing.  New features are nice, but it doesn't mean much if viruses are overlooked.
 
 Does anyone know if there are plans to address this low-score virus detection issue?

I think we should respect the author. You are looking at a single line in a table,
and then you will be able to find whatever you are looking for.   :(

The conclusion of the test is what counts here. Read the whole test instead of
misusing a single number.

Avast is always improving, so i think you can expect even better results in next test of this kind.  ;)

Note that these particular viruses are zoo samples which you are unlikely to meet in real.

The info you posted was very helpful.

So, from a user perspective - how does the Avast's virus detection rank alongside NAV, AVK etc? Have any of you had a situation where another scanner detected a virus, but Avast did not?

Sure, such a situation sometimes occurs - with any antivirus, not just avast!.
