Title: How many processes?
Post by: jjbtnc on October 11, 2006, 01:18:19 PM
Hi all

I'm running aVast version 4.7 home edition (aka free) - build oct2006 (4.7.892)
and just wanted to know how many processes it runs?
Loking through task manager i can see
ashdisp.exe
ashmailsv.exe
ashserv.exe
ashwebsv.exe
aswupdsv.exe

is that all of them?  Just that i seen it mentioned on other sites that aVast! starts up 6 services?

ashdisp.exe = icon on system tray
ashmailsv.exe = mail service
ashserv.exe = standard shield (resident) protection
ashwebsv.exe = Web shield provider service
aswupdsv.exe = avast update service

These are the ones that are 'running' in background.
When you start an update you'll see avast.setup, when you run an on-demmand scanning you'll see ashSimpl.exe running...

But, in fact, avast has only 4 services  ;)
