Title: Virus protection
Post by: j.m.reid on October 12, 2006, 03:03:40 PM
I have got Win Patrol , Avast , Ad-Aware , Spybot and Ewido installed . I notice quite a few sages mentioning  A- squared free , would it be over -kill to install this too? Would it work in conjunction with other  programmes with out causing conflict ?Would I be better of replacing one of the existing  programmes with A-squared or let sleeping dogs lie. Thanking you for any advice given.

No. Not at all. The free version of a-squared does not have a resident module, i.e., it just scans on-demand: no conflicts, no problems.

Other than being another security based program that you have to keep up to date, no there are no issues with adding this to your defences.

Some might say that you could uninstall spybot S&D as it rarely detects anything, perhaps after the others are through scanning there is nothing left. If I were to add another anti-spyware I would certainly uninstall spybot s&d if for no other reason than the abysmal updates, too big, too slow and difficulties connecting to the update servers on occasion.

I personally haven't used Ad-Aware in a long time.
I happen to feel that there is such a thing as overkill. But, that simply my own opinion.
