Title: why quarantine not deleate
Post by: alistring on October 31, 2006, 10:00:08 AM
Hello, I'm new to avast and get easily annoyed with instruction manuals so i was hoping someone could give me an easy to understand answer to whether or not i should quarantine or delete a virus (adw, spy and trj) even if the recommendation is to quarantine or move. i don't understand why it doesn't just tell me to delete it. also once its in the virus chest it wont let me delete it. wondering why this is. I'm running on windows XP.
any help would be much appreciated. ;D
cheers

Quarentine (Chest) is always safer than deleting. You could delete a system file and your computer could have troubles to work (or boot).
Viruses cannot get out of the Quarentine. It's safe. You can limit the size of the Quarentine or just wait some weeks to delete the files in it manually  ;)
Quarentine allows further analysis (scanning, restoring...), deleting is definitive (no go back available).
Hope it helps.
