Title: Can't sign in to Avast account

I open Avast, go to menu and choose the option to 'Connect to Avast account'. I enter my email and password only to get the following message every time, 'Please connect to the internet'

I am connected and everything else works as it should. Is this is known issue? I am an Avast free user, so will this affect my subscription? I remember you used to have to update your subscription yearly even in the free version.

What is your current avast version and build number (as your signature is out of date) ?
I ask this as your explanation on how you try to get there doesn't match my UI (see spec in my signature) and attached image1.

From that link in the UI I can connect to my account (also on avast free).
Is your avast installation actually linked (signed in) to that account (email address) ?

Hi David. I am using the latest version, 20.10.2442 (build 20.10.5824.620). I had to reinstall Windows on my laptop so re-downloaded Avast a few days ago. It used to sign in fine, but since I downloaded again it doesn't.

You have to ensure that your current installation is connected to your previous account.

e.g. is it connected to the same email that you use to log on to the forum ?
Or has your email address changed, in which case you would need to add the email to your avast account and then make it the default email.

How did you connect to the forum as that apparently works OK, that should be what your current installation of avast should be linked to.

What happens if you try to connect manually to your avast account at my.avast.com ?
That would have a Subscriptions section, but as an avast free user there would be nothing there as that is only for paid version subscriptions.

It is connected to the same email I use to sign in to this forum, and when i sign in manually to my.avast.com it works fine.

I have seen this on a few occasions in the forum (not enough to consider it a bug as such), but have not personally experienced it.

Yeah, it's a strange one. I have checked Firewall settings in case Avast was being blocked and all is fine there, so I can only assume there is a bug on some accounts.

Hi,

The message "Please connect to the internet" generally means that something on your device is blocking the connection.
This can happen when using a VPN or other anti-virus software. You can also try to reset your router or connect to a different network (e.g. mobile hotspot)
