Title: Avast constantly scanning my new hard drive
Post by: stpavicic on January 18, 2021, 01:52:54 PM
Recently I've purchased a new hard drive, and set it up on my PC.
I have one system drive, and two data drives now.

Avast is constantly scanning the new data drive. Non stop.
When I disable virus protection, disk activity (FINALLY!) stops.

What is even weirder is, the other (older) hard drive for data never gets scanned - it is in sleep mode nearly always.

What can I do to get that fixed up, other than scratch avast off of my system?

Avast is
20.10.2442 (subver 20.10.5824.624)

Hard drive is WD Gold 12TB.

Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

Thats kinda weird, do you have any files in the new drive? If you have, there is a possibility that Avast is trying to scan the new drive in case there is a virus.

Hi,

What type of scan is shown in (Protection > Virus Scans >) Scan History (associated with the new hard drive)?
