Hi,
I'm using the Avast Secure Browser on my Laptop, Desktop and Mobile. I'm experiencing an issue though, which is that Avast Video Downloader is only present on my browser installed on my laptop. On my laptop I did not do anything for it to be activated, I just noticed it as a function when I used the browser. Is there a way to activate this in the browser settings? I've looked around, but haven't found any information on this.

Hello, aslakkvarstein! Thank you for your posting! Avast Video Downloader extension can be activate(enable/disable) clicking on the menu icon (3 dots)/More Tools/Extensions/Avast Video Downloader. Please, let me know if this solved your request. Thank you!

I'm also having problem with the video downloader not showing up. I'm using ASB version 88.0 and no extensions are shown in More Tools/Extensions.

What if there are no more extensions visible when I enter Dev mode? only user feedback and avast passwords are there. With Dev mode off there is only avast Passwords.
A week ago I formatted everything and started again...just one of those days. Now, I'm having this problem.
Any help appreciated. I'll just keep cruising around for answers.

You could try a clean reinstall of ASB. See/Follow Bob's instructions.

No luck I'm afraid.
I'm trying to work out if I've missed something basic.
checked for updates, uninstalled and now uninstalled using that other method.
Is there something in avast security I need to play with? that wouldn't make any sense.

Click on the three-dot menu, more tools, select extensions
When that opens, make sure Developer mode (top right) is ON.
Once it's on, you'll see the video downloader. Make sure it's turned on.
That should solve your problem.

unfortunately, that was the very first thing I checked. I followed all of those steps and as I previously stated, the only extensions are avast passwords and user feedback. that is with dev mode on. with dev mode off only passwords is visible.
so, we can cross that firmly off the list as a solution.

I don't know what instructions you followed but,
with Developer mode OFF, nothing shows.
What version of the Secure Browser are you running?

I gave up and uninstalled again. I thought I might try another version. I'm now back on 86.1.numbers and everything is back to normal. I have no idea what changed.
Thank you all for you advice. Apologies for my vaguely obtuse and sarcastic manner. Its all good natured.
I'll talk to you all again in 2 or 3 years (hopefully longer) when something else goes wrong ;)

Based on the number of views this topic it sees to be an active problem. With versions 89 and 90 the video download extension is missing. I just did a new install of win10 pro and installed (first time ASB 89). I went into the extension with developer switch on and the video download extension is not there. It is missing so it could not be turned on (a previous solution). I did an uninstall using https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe and installed ASB again using https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser. The new install was ver 90. Same thing not video download extension. At this point I just want to know if this is a problem with the newer versions of ASB, win10 pro, or something specific to using win10 pro or one of its settings. If you are seeing the same thing please post that you have seen the problem. Obviously, if you have a solution please post the solution.

Make sure that the address bar isn't extended and hiding the icon
If you hover your mouse over the far right end of the address bar, it can be made smaller. (shorter)

I am having the same problem as tm54776. Video downloader is not in extensions.
Over recent weeks I have had bank mode disappear off task bar and have to go through menu to open it. It reappeared as an icon after a reinstall but the link would not work, thus had to continue opening through menu. It was while fixing this problem that I noticed video downloader was in the extensions but not switched on (I had thought maybe YT had blocked its use and that is why it had not been available for a while). Then ad block kept saying it had access to site but did not block any ads. Over the last week I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the premium security program and the browser. Each time I manage to fix something something else goes missing. Currently it is the video downloader. The main thing is ad blocker is working again after the reinstall.

I have the same issue. I'm on Version 90.xxxx. Since version 87 there have been constant issues with Bank Mode, Ad Block and Video downloader.
Having read this and other threads since verion 87. It appears support is not listening to the Video Downlader issue. Showing someone how to turn on a non-existent extension is not a solution. Rolling back to an earlier version is not a solution. Doing a Clean install is not an solution.
Regarding clean installs they're a complete pain because not all of the settings are restored. Export Bookmarks used to restore all settings as well as bookmarks. A new feature to restore all settings including White Lists and Auto Launch URLs for Bank Mode would reduce my reluctance to do a clean install in the future.
Version 90 appears to have fixed Bank Mode and and some of the Ad Block issues, but Video Downloader is still an issue. I have done two clean installs in the last two or three weeks which have wasted considerable time. I have attached an image of the resident extensions from a clean install from version 88 and Video Downloader is not there. So please listen to your customers when they say something is non-existent and provide a solution rather than assuming everyone is ill-informed about the basic functionality of the application.
Also it would be helpful if more than one image could be posted with each post to fully detail the many issues.

Or are you referring to this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWnHRin2bho in the post by cameron_mon from Feb 2017 which demonstrates how to turn on the extension? As you will note from my earlier, post Reply #22 the extension is missing, so it can't be turned on.

Also please refer to pic on post #22 to see the available extensions which does not include the Video Downloader.
Can you please point me to your solution that DavidR refered to in post #25.

Have gone through all of the steps posted in previous post to uninstall Avast and re-install Avast and like several others have also posted the Avast Video Downloader is not listed in the Extensions

The instructions have nothing to do with uninstalling Avast.

Maybe it's time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Book Marks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.

Report back if that's solved the problem or not.
Avast has offered a separate tool to totally remove the Secure Browser if the above instructions don't work.

Still no Joy - Still NO Avast Video Downloader listed as an extension - Just like others have also posted - only to have someone instead ask us if it is missing in the top right of the browser hidden by the URL box - no it's not hidden it doesn't EXIST

Did a clean install of version 90 on a Windows 10 system and there’s no video downloaded extension.
Did a new download on Mac (version 90) and it also shows no video downloaded extension

The article is from 4 Dec 2019 and has nothing to do with the Avast Secure Browser, but Firefox. Not to mention the removed add-ons were available on Firefox not long after that.

Avast video downloader is also missing on my PCs. Last used a few months ago, went to use it last week and no longer listed in my extensions. I performed a clean uninstall/reinstall, which did not bring it back. I have developer mode enabled and it's just not there.
Only thing of note in my installation, is I'm not using avast AV, so it's a standalone app. I deselected the option to make it my default browser, deselected launching automatically on Windows login, & deselected pinning it to my taskbar. Otherwise I've not changed anything in the settings. I've attached images showing what I mean and my version. Win 10 Home 21H1 19043.1023. Using with Windows Defender. The avast locale I downloaded from is en-NZ, default language on installation English-UK.
I see this has been reported to avast so I'm just posting to add a little weight/numbers reporting, and a little more info about installation info in case it's relevant. Also to make it clear it's not the same issue as the other post about it just not showing on youtube.

Any updates on this? I had the downloader installed and it was working perfectly then suddenly it was bugged out. I spoke with someone at Avast customer service who told me to uninstall and reinstall and that should fix the issue. I followed these instructions and when I reinstalled the Video Downloader wasn't in my extensions at all anymore. I spoke to someone at Avast again and this gentleman said that they'd "Gotten rid of the extension for some users while it was being worked on."
I asked him what that meant, why only some people would have access to it and others wouldn't, and he just said it was a known issue they were working on, and that Avast would be announcing when it would be "re-released..." But if it's still working for a large group of people, why would it need to be "re-released?" Very confused. Does anyone have an answer to this? Is it in fact being worked on, or did I just screw myself out of the extension by attempting to reinstall?
Would love to hear if anyone else has this issue, and if anyone else has heard from the Help people to do what I did. Very frustrated. :(
