Title: Mac VPN unable to stay connected

The VPN on my Mac only holds for a few moments. I checked: settings-network security-Automatically when connected to the Internet checkbox is checked. I'm on Catalina. Do I need to get a booster? Sometimes if I'm in the same room I do stay connected but I'm in a "cubby" - not far away. Thanks.
