Title: How do I get rid of it
Post by: dant on April 19, 2003, 05:15:22 PM
I cant get rid of this program.  I tried the windows uninstall. It attempts to re-install.  Ive looked in the directory where the program files are located, there is no evident uninstall program.  I continually get dialog boxes poping up wanting a "new key" .  I can't get one. I just want to get rid of this thing.  Any ideas??? Help.  Dan Thompson Palm Coast FL

Hm, why do not try to install it again, that should fix the missing uninstall information,  and than try to uninstall it? What Version (Build)of Avast do you use?

Thanks, but I already thought of that.  Unfortunate, when I attempt to install the original download, a dialog box came up informing me I'm attempting to install over a newer product.  I downloaded the current version it still won't install on top.  I may need an exorcist.  I'm tempted to delete the directories where the program is located, but I gotta feeling that may not be such a good idea.  Thanks, DT

Hi,

I think I'll need your setup.log file (it's located in program files\avast4\setup). Send it to kubecj at asw dot cz, please.

The newest setup should always offer you either uninstall or upgrade. What you describe is really strange.
