Are you talking about the on-access or on-demand scanner? When is the virus detected? Everytime you click on what it generates an error? Which error? Which version of Outlook do you have? Which OS? Version of avast?
Thanks

Everytime you click on what it generates an error? Open the email.
Which error? "Outlook.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program"
Which version of Outlook do you have? Outlook 2000; 9.0.02711
Which OS? Windows 2000
Version of avast? 4.1.335

So now, if you restart Outlook, the mail is still there and marked as read?
Does avast start the alarm if you click the message now?
