In the last couple of weeks I have found that I can no longer play any video in Facebook.
The problem is only apparent in the Avast Secure Browser, and only with videos within Facebook.
I can watch videos in other sources fine in ASB.
I can do everything else in FB fine in ASB.
I can watch videos in FB in any of the other browsers I have tried.
I have cleared buffers, deleted all downloaded content, reinstalled Chrome and Avast browsers but the problem remains.
Anyone have any other ideas?
-
I am experiencing the exact same problem.
-
No problem here.
Which version of Secure Browser are you using?
-
Not sure if the issue im having started with the update or not but the last day or so, videos on Facebook play about 5 seconds in then i get an error and the video stops. Ive tried restarting windows & clearing history/cache. It doesnt seem to happen on regular Chrome, just on Avast Secure Browser. It says my version is up to date Version 88.0.7977.151 (Official Build) (64-bit). Any Ideas??? Thanks

Is that every video on Facebook? I'm not having that problem here.

Hello!
Do you have this problem with every video on Facebook?
Can you please provide Diagnostic Information? You can find it in Settings => About Avast Secure Browser => Diagnostic Information.
Thanks!
Olga.

Could you please provide us with more details for investigation of this issue?
We need the info from secure://media-internals/ for the specified video
How to get this info:
- open the page with video
- open secure://media-internals/ in the another tab
- select recently opened video in the Recent Players
- Click on 'copy to clipboard'

I'm having this issue too.
-
I solved everything after deleting all the files in the hidden folder "C: \ Users \ ........... \ AppData \ Local \ AVAST Software \ Browser" Unfortunately, all personal settings and bookmarks are lost
-
So is there any other way to solve this without deleting all bookmarks and stuff?

Maybe it's time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Book Marks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.
A video to help with the installation: https://youtu.be/r_VLA0HMLQM
Report back if that's solved the problem or not.
Avast has offered a separate tool to totally remove the Secure Browser if the above instructions don't work.
You can find that tool here, https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=230288.msg1531315#msg1531315

Thanks for the clarification. That's why I asked about the player. You shouldn't need one.
